I'm trying to think what gear box to use. i have two in my garage at the mo' an F10 and a F13. what would be best option and what CWP sould i run. not bothered about top end speed, but i need to get there sharpish.

F13 CR
With a 4.18 FD.
For goodacceleration IIRC

have a look what final drive the F13 is that you have, its stamped in the end of the box near the earth strap IIRC.

nice one mate, i'll have a look. whats the crack with the final drive. i take its the higher the number ratio, the quicker accelaration.

cheers for the help

Its the last part that transmits drive to the driveshafts.
Ye, the higher ratio gives higher acceleration IIRC.
I dont thinka F13 had that FD tho.

Only 1.3SR's and some 1L's had it IIRC.

Yeh as said above use the f13 boc with a 4.18 fd.

Have a look on the end of both gearboxes you have, as the f10 may have a 4.18!! Very handy, rather than paying for one!!

Ye, IIRC some 5spd F10 boxes had the 4.18 FD, mostly on 1L engines i think.

i love my gearbox, F10 it is and pulling away is brilliant lol, though i've often wondered what an XE engine on a close F10 box would be like lol, it would get through the gears in no time:D

Yeh but you would spend more time changing gear than useing the gear, if you understand!!

cheers for the advise, the F10 i have is of a 1.4 SR. i was looking on E-Bay and people are always selling CWP on there, cheap too.

I got my 4.18 F.D out of a F10 from a 1.4sr!!So i would have a look at the end of the f10 gearbox.

Plus if you take the F.D out of the f10 you will know how it all goes back together in your f13!!

Oh i know you would Bruce, as my 1400 gets through the box well enough lol I was just wondering what it would be like though.
