What offset wheels car i get away with on a nova lowered 60mm, its stripped out so the back end sits quite high. Seen alot of wheels with et35 but will this rub at all with 195/45 or 195/50 tyres?

Cheers

This is answered in lots of posts. They all say an offset of et45-49 without arch mods.

Et35 will rub like a badger.
You need at least et45 to have a chance of them not rubbing. Et49 if possible.

thought that might be the case, my arches have had the lips bent up out the way but think i will just keep an eye out for some good fitting wheels instead of doing mods

195/45/15 or 195/50/15 are ok mate and does not require any arch mods

Et35 will rub like a badger.
Do badgers rub then?! lol

Wrong offset wheels will also eat wheel bearings and pull the car all over the place

Been there , and paid a hefty sum to correct this problem - scrubbage annoys - as most tyre retailers will tell you SOME novas get away with 195 / 15 / 50 But to be sure go 195 / 15 / 45 .

it comes down to your offset of wheel, what tyres you use and is it mk1 or mk2 as mk 2's are slightly wider than mk1 (in the arches).
is lowered 60mm on jst springs or both?
what tyres do you wanna run, if u have say falkens which have a rounded sidewall you'll prob have no problems with 195/50/15 or 185/55/15 but if you have say an Avon ZV1 which has a more square side wall you'll need a 195/45/15.
most Novas are different in one way or another so if you really want the safest route get some vauxhall wheels off say an astra, cav, cali, then fit 195/45/15 tyres and you'll have no problems at all.

with a 60mm drop you have to ensure you get as close to the right offset as you can.

The car will handle horribly is the wrong offset is used. It throws the feedback from the steering out, the car "tram lines" - which is like for no reason all of a sudden the cars wheels pick up a groove in the road and it behaves like its on rails - you basically lose control for a fraction of a second!

Part of the problem is the drop alters the camber of the front wheels - they are angled in at the top more than the bottom so the spread of the tyre on the road is uneven. You can fix it with different mods (adjustable strut top on ebay for ?80, realigning the strut top holes by 7mm out the way and welding up the old hole or filing part of the hub). In addition most Novas suspension components (track rod ends, steering rack, strut tops, bushes etc) will be somewhat worn so incorrect offset will only reinforce the wear and only speed it up.

Get the right offset - then get the camber sorted and you'll be fine.
