View Full Version : 16v digi dash wiring probs
well went and got my digi dash yesterday:) just been comparing the wires on mine to a wiring diagram from on roybacer, sent to me from the guy i baught it from.
but noticed a few differences in colors of the wires etc:confused:
tried loading the the diagram on novaland and it just wouldnt load up.
any one got a wiring diagram for this? and what do i do with the 3 wires from the speed sensor?
pics would be good guys. cheers, lew

on the speed senors, the all go to the dash...
Black to the bunch of blacks
Brown to the browns
Blue/red to the blue/red on back of the white plug
iv got that diagram, but my wires are slightly different,
heres what iv got on mine.
black plug -
black/white
white
green/black
brown/white
black x2
brown/yellow -
yellow/white -
brown/blue - these are the ones that arnt on the diagram
brown -
white plug -
blue/red
green
blue/green
blue/white
blue
blue/black
black x2
green/grey x2
brown x3
so that one is the same as in the diagram,
any ideas guys?
also forgot to ask,
iv dissconected my speedo cable but how do i get the part out of the gear box (the bit that the cable goes in to)
cheer, lew
Unscrew it from the top of the gearbox.
ah right, i can see how that works now.
but what about these left over wires on the black plug?
do i need to use them for anything?
blue/brown
brown/yellow
yellow/white
brown - which i take is just an earth.
and also what wires do i connect the 3 speed sensor ones to?
blue/red - to the speedo (same color) on white plug
brown - just another earth
black, which black wire should i conect this one to, the whit plug or black plug?
i know your all bored of digi posts now but i carnt find answers to the probs iv got.
help apprieciated, cheers, lew
speed sensor, as said in original post i made
on the speed senors, the all go to the dash...
Black to the bunch of blacks
Brown to the browns
Blue/red to the blue/red on back of the white plug
but does it matter which plug the brown and black go to?
and im just going to try it tommorow and see if those wire left over are needed for anything.
cheers, lew
all the brown wires are earths so connect all browns together
all the blacks are switched lives so connect all of them togetherboth brown an black that come off of the plugs connect to rest of their colours you will have a few left the are not needed for the nova loom
also 1 of the blacks in 1 of the boxs is for trailer warning an not used
cheers mate. now just need to find a mk2 cav surround.

yellow/white to you lights on right hand side of dash
brown - which i take is just an earth. correct
and also what wires do i connect the 3 speed sensor ones to?
blue/red - to the speedo (same color) on white plug
brown - just another earth
black, which black wire should i conect this one to, the whit plug or black plug? either just needs to be an ignition live
i know your all bored of digi posts now but i carnt find answers to the probs iv got.

you dont need the cav surround a nova one works fine
right went out this morning to fit my new brake servo, that went t*t's up, so decided to do the digi instead.
wired it all up and got it in. had to chop the dash surrounding the clocks to get it in there so doesn't look the best at the minute.
any way. couple of probs
1.
first time round the indicators just wouldnt work, so then saw i made a mistake and connected the other wires for them.
then i turned the ignition on and the left indicator bulb on the dash is flashing quickly and making the noise but the actuall left indicator doesnt work (the stalk is not pushed down) but the right side one works fine.
2.
the lhole eft hand side panel on the dash is really dim, espiecaly compared to the rest of it all.
3.
and i think its over reading (speedo)
any help on the ubove would be very much apprieciated!!
cheers, lew
p.s it took me all day but it does look bl**dy good :)

1. black plug - black/green to black and green coming from indicator stalk
black/white to black and white coming from indicator stalk
2. you have got one of the halogen bulbs gone on the dash, one each side,?3 to replace!
3. probly got the wrong transducer for the gearbox, theres a few types or youve got it positioned to kpm instead of mph?
1. i'll check that again in a second then
2. how do you the back of the clocks to get to the bulbs then. the only bolts i can see really are wiered ones that just have 3 little notches in. so how?
3. well he gave me the bit that actually goes inside the gearbox aswell as the outer bit that get connected to the plug with the 3 wires. it's held on with one 8mm or sumin bolt, bolted to the box. you now what i mean, so should i put that on aswell? i didnt think id have to but i think i will then.

1 what i said is defwo right
2 you should see the bulbs from the back without taking anything off
3 you dont need the bit held in by the 8mm bolt. there are a few types of transducer (bit with 3 wires coming out) you need the exact one that matches your clocks.
proper job!!
indicator prob just been sorted,
didnt look at the back to see where the bulb comes out but i saw it and it was nearly dead.
and i think the speedo is ok now, am going to take up an a road where there a sign that tells you how fast your going, just for reasurance.
it feels weired having a speedo so thats propably why i thought it was out.
mine has never worked.
and yes its the same transducer.
so alls good now, just got to put a new bulb in and sort out somthing for the surround.
cheers for your help jamie:thumb:
