ok i have big power probs atm.
my car seems to keep breaking down
it seems that its getting no power ive replaced my alternator as it was the first thing i thought about but its stll not charging!!
help pleased
Have you checked the earth straps? If one of them is snapped or not connected then you are not getting the cycle so the alternator wont be charging the battery.

You should have two wires going to the alternator, and there will be an earth wire from the alternator adjustment arm bottom that goes on the bolt attached to the inlet, and connects to the alternator adjustment bolt
Get a multimeter across the battery with the engine running, see how many volts the battery is getting.

petty carb 1.2 i got the gte dials in they only show half batt power when ignition is on and when car is first started.but then at speeds of 70 - 90
its on full i know that the faster the engine is turning the more power the alternator prodguces but is this right???
My battery guage never moves from halfway, whether idling or at 6K rpm.
Unless i turn healights, window heater etc on, then it goes down slightly obviously.
it should be sat in the middle, thats reading about 12/13 volts in the middle :thumb:

well when i rev it i can get it to go up 2 full but i keeps breaking down as my mums using at atm as i replace her clutch in the 3 series so she is going along in trafic with the lights on and the radio on and she says it just stalls and wont turn back on ive ran a multi meter on it and im running 8 on bat with car turned off and 14-15 v when the car is on
8v, should be more than that.
Try a new battery.
14-15v when engine is on shows the alternator is working fine.

i agree with long live the nova 8v aint nearly enough go kwik fit they do free battery tests n then go buy a battery from somehwere cheaper lol
looks like your battery is ****ed if its only 8v's
your only getting the higher reading when its running as that what the alt is putting out
