what is the lousdest back box you can get for a 1.4 sr, getting a nova soon and want to get it sounding good
Theres a difference between sounding good and sounding loud ;)
A universal can type thing would probably be the loudest.

The Peco on my Carb'd 1.2 is Mentally loud. Probally too loud imo

Size of the tailpipe has nowt to do with its sound.
Its the size of the box and silencer that alters the sound.
i have a peco bb4 on my nova sr project, thats loud, people would have a different opinion to whether it sounds good though, i like it!
but if you want a loud pack box, buy a Rage!

had a scorpion 2 1/4" full s/s system on my nova 1200, blew all the baffels out by whizz popping, failed mot, got pulled up by the minestry and given a 7.30pm noise curfew asin time to go to bed or your gettin locked up, i soon took it off! loud is not good!

Ye mine is pretty loud has not silencers and is a universal one, it aint gd sounds jus like avin no back box.

try turning your ignition off and pump abit of petrol thru while in gear then flick it back on again and watch for the flame out ur back window!
you could take off the middle box as well!
Get a Ashley/Sportex, they are pretty loud, but its a nice loud :)

I had a 4" magnex universal backbox on for a while as well as removing the middle box and cat, that was very very loud infact after a few weeks of making me have a headache and doing my head in so much i took it off! :)
What you want is a nice loudness ;)
theres alot of good makes out there, magnex, scorpioi, rage, any after market back box will sound nice, but all will have a different sound!
The only problem with a loud exhaust is every scrote starts noticing your nova and decides they want to steal it (which is easy with most Novas) and then they usually burn it out. And a big loud exhaust will lose you back pressure which means a power loss, go for a 2 1/2 inch SS.
A mates neigbour wouldnt lend my mate his trolley jack after he got a straight through exhaust on his car cos he p****d him off so much with the noise

Why people think you have to have a huge exhaust to be loud i do not know, and i dont think its cool anyway.
If anyone heard my exhaust they would think its pretty loud, and its not a stupid exhaust either. I have a 4-1 manifold mated to a magnex system on my 1400 SR, and when i say you can hear my car all the way round my estate im not joking lol. I didnt believe my dad until he drove it and i could still hear him...
Gotta say though it does sound the b****cks:thumb:

loud is not always good mate. i've got a nova sri with a bb2 i think on it and it sounds nice, not to loud just right.
ive got a 4-1 manifold with stainless 2 1/4 straight through pipe and a cherry bomb backbox and that is pretty loud. does sound awesome tho i love it.

when poeple first start driving they think yeh sod this lets have my car as loud as posible and it makes other poeple think "have you heard that shed"
i just like a nice raspy sound and a decent looking subtle backbox which says "im powerful on the sly" :p

my exhaust is too loud, its made from a 3" pulsar exhaust and is streight through, Cant wait to get a quite system so that the induction can be heard.
im runin a 4 into 1 with a 2 and a half inch pipe strait through, no boxes, for the real group n stylee!!!!

Chances are your first car won't be powerful though :p

If you want loud get a universal back box and ask poweflow to put it on. But it sounds really horrible i loved myn at (4 inch jap back box) first but soon got bored of the over the top noise. I now have a sportex full system sounds really sporty and still quite loud but not to loud. It looks cool to:thumb:
if you want a cheap loud option, go for a peco or a cherry bomb back box

ive got a universal rage thing i bought it off a mate as i liked the sound now it just annoying id rather have a full nice sounding system but if you ant loud get a rage exhaust because it is really loud

I agree the loudest dont always sound good or get respect. Plenty of ppl will be cursing at you under their breath.
I got a Sportex 3" round backbox on a 1.2 Its loud around 3k rpm when you put your foot down but when cruising its reasonably quiet with a bit of rumble. Personally I like it coz its compromise between the two and it was dirt cheap. lol
