right.. car will only idle with out the air flow meter plugged in, so im guessing thats ****ed..

but its also pumps out loads of black smoke, could the be due to the air flow meter not being plugged in or what else could it be?

Ye, dodgy air flow meter will mess up the fueling.

Lol, check the wiring to yours is in good condition, and the connection aint corroded or anything.
