View Full Version : Problem with vinyl/sidestrips

Ive had this car about 3 weeks now and have just found out that the bottom part of the sides have just been sprayed over the vinyl (colour coded) and the sidestrips masked off.

if i remove the sidestrips and vinyl will it still be ok underneith?

my car had this respray bizness,I removed all the bumpstrips and the one,to the rear,had a tide,I thought it was just the fade,but you can feel a slight build up,I think it depends on how good a colour match they did,just remember though,the sidestrips can always go back on...as if u wud

clear repeaters,lowered and more performance in the pipe line :)

Sounds familiar! I took my side strips off, and was left with a ridge of paint build-up where the strips were, plus, the paint was a different shade underneath the strips..i.e. the colour it should be, hence why I'm re-spraying the sides ;)

same thing happened to me, I got a big buffing machine thing and lots of T-Cut and buffed and biffed, its starting to dissapear (spelling). You can respray the side of the car, but try getting one of these buffer things, saves alot of effort.

i'm not touching it yet! i'm waiting for the 2 Billing shows to be over and save the money up - if it then goes horribly wrong i should have enough money for it to be done proffessionaly by a bodyshop!

Be VERY careful taking the bumpstops off - i managed to peel off the paintwork..im such a careless prat!! :(

when i took the strips off my nova i used a mixture of t-cut and metal polish - autosol(yes its safe), and loads of elbow grease!!! They came off like a dream!! hope that helps!

im feeling glad ive got sunshine..

No, i meant leave the vinyl on the car. Be diffferent and keep it.Every other fucker takes it off. I have the same color car as you and it looks kool in the two tone effect. Plus if its been sprayed the color will be different and look pants underneath.
