Alternator and gear linkage on a 20XE

Final few bits now to get right;

- Alternator

It has 2 terminals on it - where do they wire up to?


- Gear linkage

The gear linkage seems to be connected centrally, but cant seem to get reverse or 5th...

Any ideas?

linkage cant be in the middle,as your losing each side,and 1 terminal is the thick red power calbe...10mm nut i think,then other is.....cant remember off hand,

Where does the thick power cable go to?

have you pulled the little plastic bit through 180 degrees on the s bend part of the selector

as for alt small one is the blue ish and white cable

Was your car originally 4 speed? how you lifted the gear gaitor and chopped off the little plasic bit which stops you pulling the gearstick over to the drivers side fully........

thick alt cable goes straight to the battery. Thin alt cable goes to the alt bulb on the dash (there will be a wire in the bay already)

my was a four speed and i never had to do that, got all gears first time too

i know, never happened before lol must of been the only thing that went right on the car though first time lol
