grab handle smoothing

im just wondering if any1 knows the best way to smooth a grab handle i want to take out the lock and just smooth it over i was thinking fibreglass it up then filler over but would this be the best way?

could use fiberglass matting with resin, then bog it.

i know a lad who has just left the lock in (without the barel) and just bogged over it

I would get a small bit of mesh, glue that to the back of the hole where the lock should be.
Then fibreglass over that, and finish with filler. Or just filler the hole, without fibreglass, but it might crack.

Then just smooth the handle using filler, or maybe just filler primer paint will smooth it.
Then sand it smooth, and paint it.

i've done this before...

use fibreglass paste, fill the hold, sand it back a little, then skin with filler, sand the rest of the handle and paint...

just make sure you have another way of getting into your boot...
