evening all. when i baught my k reg sri (se) the bottom end was knacked so i got the car cheap but tryed putting a 14sr (nv) block piston etc. with a sri head and manifolds. probleam is i canny get it to start and if it does it want to cut out. checked timing twice, plugs, leads and fueling. it uses a coil pack so the ignition timing is correct. tryed a comp test and only found it to be at the 155psi give or take 1/2 psi. just want to get it running again does anybody have any idears? or even if any body knows the bore, stroke or cumbustion chamber sizes it would be great thanks.

what have you done for the crank sensor?

when you did the compression test was it with all plugs uot and wide open thottle? what was the variation across the pistons?

check to make sure all the pipes are conected to the carb or whatever your running, i know you have to block some if you fit a K&N otherwise theres an airleak and it sounds like that

i thought that was to low. my mates had a sri and it was up at the 190psi mark.

it will be low with the throttle closed lol

i just trued it again with full throttle and was the exact same on all cylinders.

put a drop of oil in each of the bores. do the test again and come back with those numbers

My bet is the Crank sensor is not fitted.
It wont start without the crank sensor.

Did you fit it to the replacement block? As a 14nv block wont have one fitted.

iv done all that and checked for contanewaty all correct.

Hmm, so you have the crank sensor and sprocket thing fitted to the 14nv block from the 14se?

yes everything transferd across.

Are you getting spark and fuel?

novatracker

yes spark and fuel correct plugs and gap, timing spot on ta

Hmmm.
Does the ECu have any fault codes stored?

no nothing

the bore, stroke and capacity should be the same for the 14NV and the 14SE
make sure the timing is not 180 degrees out. make sure your getting fuel to the fuel rail and the injecters are opening. the firing order is 1-3-4-2

timing is right, leads in the right order had the plugs out turning it over and after i stoped i looked down the plug holes and the top of the pistons are all have fuel on them.

If you have fuel, spark and compression, i dont see what could be stopping it from starting.

Does it fire, or just turn over?

make sure the ht leads havent been mixed up.
if your getting all the right stuff at the right time, i am stumped.

its getting a spark and iv checked the firing order twice nowand its all fine.

Stuart

had the head off it?
could be the lifters are pumped up too far... and that could explain the slightly lower WOT cylinder pressures.... as the oil trick made no diff so your rings are fine.

iv had the head of to change the blocks did the gasket and all seals but ill try taking the lifter out to make sure that there no stuck.
