the other engine conversion, will be a 1.6 8v into my nova 1.4 sr!

ive been offered a 1.6 8v e16se GTE engine for ?50 if i want it, i plan to put it on twin 40 weber carbs, will i be able to use this engine for it even though its a mpi'd engine?

cheerz!

Yep.
just get a Twin 40 inlet to the gte engine.
And you will need a 1.4SR dizzy and coil.

will the driveshafts and outlet manifold all suit up? what about fuel pump?

Driveshats and exhaust manifold should fit fine.

You could either use a GTE electric pump with a pressure regulator.

Or use your 1.4SR cam carrier with the mechanical pump.

youd still need a pressure reg for the mechnical pump too.

Well spotted, i should have put that in my post but forgot lol

currently, the project has an automatic choke, engine is standard, what will i need to convert it to a twin carb set up and whats the prices for such?

cheerz!

Rip the complete 1400SR out, but leave the dizzy/coil and coil loom in.
Then drop the GTE engine in.

You should be able pick up everything you need for T40s for around ?250-?300.
You will then need a pressure regulator(?30)

And the carbs will also need setting up on a rolling road.

would that include inlet manifold, trumpets and linkages? can i connect it to the auto choke, or will i need to change it to a manuel one?

Twin 40s use a manual choke orginally iirc.

Ye for about ?250 you should get the carbs, inlet, linkage etc etc.

whats the best cam to go with it?

you dont need to connect the choke up for T40's they supply pleanty of fuel for your needs.

Just going to say that...

You'l also need to sort out the EGR valve on the head. but apart from that there's nothing else to it. Here is a picture of mine, you can see how i'm running the standard 1.2 Cam housing, ignition, dizzy, coil e.t.c Might make a bit more sense

And regarding Cam, If you want a very smooth and driveable engine, and aren't too fussed about all-out power. Then i recomend the Kent NVO'R cam, i have this in mine, It's a mild cam (about 267deg IIRC) and it provides a really smooth delivery of power. It pulls really well in low revs. Your not getting power at 6000-7500 which is useless for a drivable road engine. Unless you go round at 7k constantly.

this is gona sound daft, but whats an EGR valve?

so i wont need to worry about having to use/link up a manuel choke?

and all i do is link up the throttle cable to the carbs?

cheerz!

EGR-Exhaust gas recirculation valve

Some ghey valve that puts a bit of the exhaust gas back into the inlet to reduce emissions.

You remove the egr and blank the hole with a blanking plate.
