you need to have a manual way of entering the car.

I think you need a manual way of exiting the car, so as long as the inside handles work you should be ok. Alternatively get a 2nd hand drivers door and swap it for the MOT and swap it back afterwards!!!

Just ask for advice at your MOT centre, and see what it says on this site:

http://www.motuk.co.uk/ and click on "Testers Manual"......that explains everything...well, kind of

Here's what it says (to save you looking)

Doors
This inspection does not apply if no driver's or front passenger's doors were fitted as part of the original design of the vehicle.
A lack of door handles because of original design characteristics or specialist modification is not a reason for rejection providing the door can be latched securely in the closed position.
Method of inspection:
5. Open and close the driver's and passenger's doors. Check that each latches securely in the closed position. Check also that front doors can be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle
Reason for rejection:
a. a driver's door or any passenger's door does not latch securely in the closed position
b. a driver's or front passenger's door cannot be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle
Note: reason for rejection 5b does not apply to:
goods vehicles modified for the carriage of high value cargoes such as armoured security vehicles
front passenger doors if the door aperture has been permanently 'filled' as part of a specialised customisation provided that there are no obvious aperture gaps.

So there you go. It says that as long at they can still be opened, weather by remote solenoid, or by handle, it's ok....at least that's how I read it. Basically, it doesn't say you HAVE to have door handles to pass, just as long as you can get in!

basicly all they are saying is that you dont have to get in one side of the car and open it for people out side
