Hey all,

Looking for advice on tyre choice. I've always used Pirelli Drago (P5000) on past cars and always been happy with amount of grip and tyre life (10000 miles on 205 1.6 GTI) however I have been quoted an obscene amount of money for these tyres in 195/45/15 size. Wondered what you guys were running and what you thought of them!

Thanks

I like yokohama A539 or toyo R1's kinda mid price range tyres

pick a better tyre size too......
185/45/15 should be better vaule.

Eagle F1 DSG2's get my vote 30K on the back of a keenly driven omega... now thats tyre life for a perfomance tyre!

Hankook Ventus RS-2's

Definately go for 195/45 profile. I'd recommend:

Toyo Proxes T1-R's ?48 per tyre @ http://www.tyretraders.com/index2.html?lmd=38741.669491

Goodyear Eagle F1 DSG3's - ?51.50 per tyre @ mytyres.co.uk

I have also had experience with Fuldas and Ecsta Khumos and wouldn't recommend either of these over the goodyears or toyos.

I love Michelin Pilot Exaltos. Developed for hot hatches. Expensive tho.

IMO Goodyear Eagle F1s are top notch - like Stu, I've gotten lots of miles (20k) out of mine and they've got loads of tred and grip left.

If you want something cheaper, try Falken FK451 - Just had a pair of these on mine and they seem pretty darned good.

i believe the Yokohomas A539 r the best, ther cheap too, i have em on the cavalier wheels 195/45/15 and they have bags of grip.

I have been told that yoko a539's are th best for novas that are going out on track. Im also a fan of toyo t1's, and my mate has p7000 on his turbo civic and he raves about them!!

i have T1s Toyo's on my SR and they are very good i have to say, will lose grip in wet obviously but dispite the fact that you are wheelspinning the tyres still manage to get you the way you want to go, something i cant say about the A539s i used to have unfortunately
