hey
ive built a perfomance 1.4sr engine but i was wondering weather i would be better with the standarded gear box or another one like an F50 gearboxor somthing else.
i was wondering if any one knew what the diffence between them is and the advantages and disadvantages of each would be and which would give be the best 0 to 100 time.
cheers

F50?!?!?!?! like the porsche one? lol

imho the "best" accelation gearbox from std easily available bits is a F13CR cluster with a 4.18Fd (or 4.29/4.53)

see the FD swap guide in the tech guides part for other info

Surely if you wanted faster acceleration the diesel gear box would be a better choise and strong enough to to take larger amounts of torque?

or jsut look at the ratios and make a proper judgement on things lol.

The diesel box is no stronger than the "petrol" boxes as all the gears/bearings are the same.

but hey what do people know who ahve been funning the F13cr with various FD's for three years or so know .... lol

:wall:

F13Cr will be "perfect" for just about all small block novas/corsas.

chose the FD to suit what your after... 3.74/3.94 for higher speeds and 4.18+ for uber acceleration

what do you find the 4.18 final drive on? what final drive the gearbox is, is cast onto the end near the earth strap isn't?

i cant remember the exact model of "car" teh GD was on, but i think some early 1.3sr's had it....

yes the code is stamped in the end case nearish the earth strap
