can anyone shed some light on gear boxes dont relly know much about them but was wondering what sort of ratio and final drive i would want and what these mean, it is a 1400 sr with twin 40s

You could use a close ratio box for quicker acceleration.
It all depends on the final drive of the box tho, it will be stamped into the edge of the box to tell you which FD is fitted.

imho the "best" na box weve concocted sofar is an F13CR cluster With a 4.18 FD, and if your not happy with approx 120mph(ish) top speed then swap the 5th gear for a WR item
