I have a 1.4sr and I want a bigger engine. Would a recondtioned 1.6 or 1.8 eight valve from vauxhall drop in as a direct replacement?

1.6 would slot straight in. A 1.8 from the same era would be a big block, therefore you'd have to do the same engine bay mods as an XE conversion.

Id go with the 1.6.
