fuel guage dodgy? sender? hmph im not happy!

My fuel gauge is posessed! it floats way off the clock then reads nothing then reads ok and then it goes minimum and then off the clock, i will try the process of elimination,however the car is a 1.3SR,the dials are GSi spec, and the engine is a xe, the tank has an external pump so i do not know if this complicates things or if i can rewire a new sender and loom to solve it or what, its just getting annoying now :(

it will most likely be the sender playing up.
for safety try to run the fuel really low
jack the back end up as high as you can
then swap it.
all nova senders & gauges are electrically compatable

i am having the same problem here, iv tried resetting the fuel needle - it doesnt waft around anymore but it still lies about how much petrol iv got.

i think next im gunna change the fuel guage :roll:

aaah sounds reasonable then fellas and fellettes...I will try changing the sender this week, got 2weeks off and nothing to do lol, i dont think the gauge is at fault, as it did the same with SR dials...im wondering if i can lift a sender from a corsa or astra? as there are alot more of these in the breakers nowadays than there is novas!
