View Full Version : v6 vectra brakes
just finished fitting the v6 vectra brakes to the nova.... just fit under the 15's i have.... and when i mean just....i had to remove the wheel weights for them to rotate.
for anyone else doing this u'll need a spacer spiggot to fit the hub and vectra disc, have the discs machined to 4 stud, the brake carrier, and the capilper...
obviously need 15's or above for them to fit inside wheel.
i'll post pics up soon....look wicked tucked under my rims...next the back end.... anyone shed some light on this?
Whats the brake pedal like? Do you have to press it further down for the brakes to bite?
288/284s do look behind 15s :)
Leave the rears as drums, i've heard stories of the back end locking and sliding out with rear discs on novas.
If you have removed the wheel weights then the wheels wont be balanced and you will probably feel a vibration through the steering wheel when driving.

Fit rear discs only if u can afford a bias adjuster.
My V6 calipers n discs are waiting to go on - but as cars off road at mo theres no point.
yeah brakes work fine, just got to replace the wheel cylinders on the rear as one wheel binds alittle, but other than that they are fine, and i can't see why u need a bigger servo...the brakes are fine and look unreal on the front...everyone notices them due to them filling the wheel...
i'll leave disc's on the back for now them... any one bothjered doing a bigger drum set up? or not worth the work?
i'll post up pics soon....
Not worth the work IMO, drums work perfectly well.
Id only go for discs for looks if I weas going to do it, but as mentioned, unless a properly set up bias valve is fitted, you'll be locking the rears a lot, especially if the backs stripped out.
Rear discs are way over rated as are the V6 brakes, far too heavy.
not over rate when they are free....
380 quid for the conversion or something like that...they deffinately work better than the cav gsi ones! mite be alittle more weight but unless ur gonna remove everything and go into saving weight in depth then not gonna matter.
Dont get me wrong they brake well and are great stoppers but if you have a set of heavy alloys (like speedlines) then you do start to notice the extra weight on the front of the car.
If there free then go for it.
do want speedlines but don't want 16's...so mite go for compromotive 5 spokes or leave the tsw 5 spoke things on
