safety devices rollcages (hard too fit)

a while ago i bought a full saftey devices 6pt rollcage. iv finally had it sprayed white and am tryin to fit it at the moment but its being a twat, iv got all my seats out, my seat belt holders out off the door piller and finally got the rear cage in but the front is not happening, i new it would fit tight against the heater vents in the dash but there like about 2 inches too much towards the bulhead and i cannot push the rear cage back any further? any advise off anybody? i havnt got no sunroof and its a mk2. cheers

i took my side heater vents out, didnt need them. Is it bolt in or weld in as i would of sprayed the cage last. have you welded the plates in

think your right ben, panic over, iv cut my heater vents back flush with the speaker grills and they go in now, its a bolt in one and im welding my plates under my car, took 3 people to prise the bitch in, only a couple of scratches, looks mint now tho, nice bright white cage. cheers peeps
