View Full Version : 16SE engines?
whats the difference between a E16SE engine and a C16SE engine?
i know the E16 was in the GTE and the C16 was in the GSi!
i currently have a C14SE in my corsa sri, but im planning to drop in a E16SE, will it work?
cheerz!
Not this question again
-Not all GSIs have c16se, ONLY late GSIs have them.
-All GTE's and most GSIs have e16se.
You could fit a e16se into your corsa but for the extra 10ish bhp, i wouldn't bother tbh.
e16se came in both gte and gsi
no cat, had airflow meter etc etc
C16se gsi only
came with a cat, map sensor, dispak etc etc
so it will fit in easy and work in my sri mpi?
ive got no other choice but to do the conversion anyway, first is was a case of wanting to, but now im going to have to do it as ive knckered the engine, when i start it from cold, its rattling and making not very nice noices, i think it may be coming from the bottom end, can anyone suggest what it might be?
Could just be the lifters.
You could try removing them and cleaning them.
like i know anything about engines...
its a bit slow anyway, a 1.6 would be better to tune up too, ive already planned the conversion...
?150 engine
?170 to do conversion
?25 to insurance to change over
then i gotta buy an induction kit and boost valve

Why, the youngest e16se is now about 16yrs old.
So they are probably about 5bhp down from factory bhp.
If you de-cat your 1400MPi engine you wouldn't be far behind GTE power.
Plus you would have cheaper tax and insurance, and the 1400SE is a good engine to mod.
i just want to squeeze a little more out of the little corsa, its currently got a none-tuned knckered 1.4 8v mpi 82bhp engine, its a bit vvank!
so i want to push it a little more, with maybe a 1.6 8v mpi, with about 120bhp if possible? these as standard have 100bhp, then i want to do head work, fse boost valve, induction kit, de-cat!
I dont think you would get 120bhp from a 1.6 8v by just doing headwork.
A e16se has no cat anyway, its only the c16se that has a cat.
Most e16se's with mild headwork, mild cam and t40s are around the 125-130bhp mark.
oh right, either way, i want to make it a little more nippier! ive cleared with my insurance company, just gotta let the DVLA know!
im going the engine change anyway, so it might as well be a bigger engine, will the manifold suit up?
Ye, if you use the corsa manifold and exhaust system then it should fit the engine fine.
Are you fitting a c16se or e16se?
As the wiring is a lot different for a c16se compared to e16se.
its currently a C14SE, but want to put in the E16SE!
Pretty much a straight swap then, the e16se ecu is in the engine bay, so most of the wiring is there too.
IMO its not worth the effort of swapping to a e16se.
But to answer your question, it will fit fine.
sound, cheerz!
were bouts in the engine bay is the ecu?

On a nova GTE its just mounted on the firewall by the wiper motor etc.
