just bought a gsi on a j reg first regged on jan 12th 1992 does it have a cat cat on and if i take it off what gain would i see cheers

the the power gain 1-3bhp it MIGHT give i wouldnt bother, with the hassle of swapping over the cats for mot, pretty pointless really,

CATS arent required for the MOT on cars reg before 95 M reg. (ish)
however removal of the cat can mean ur emmisions are effected, which would fail the MOT - however my SRi was decated and sailed thru the emmissons test
personally i think its worth it - its bassically free BHPs, which can never be sneezed at, even if it is ony a couple.

No car requires a CAT to pass MOT, but most that are designed to run with them will fail emissions

not nessesarily...
could be after an exhaust at the same time, so could get a system for a pre cat gsi..

Nova GSI's AUG 1992 on have cats....
so yours does not :lol:
