when you say it doesn't work. what does it do?

ie goes off the scale, doesn't move at all?

if it doesn't move at all then check the earth in the boot as this is where the fuel sender earths and chek the connections at the sender itself.

hope it helps

cheers

cheers 4 the comment m8,

the needle on the guage just moves about everywher and usually stays at 3 quarters full even wen thers no fuel in.

iv had a play with the sender unit, everything is connected.

the guy who i bought the car off gave me a little electrical component which he said goes in the clocks sumwhere. so i stripped them down 2 the bone and i cant find wher the component goes.

any more ideas plz anybody??? thankyou in advance

no, its about 10mm long, has a metal spade connector shape on one end,
a plasctic black square in the middle then 3 pins/legs on the other end.

cummon lads i know we can figure this out by the end of 2day

Could be the fuel gauge sender thats duff, or clogged up. My faff does this, when the fuel gauge gets under 1/4 it tends to zip around all over the place, apparently it can be fixed by cleaning the sender. But I'm too lazy for that at the mo

Just keep your tank full to the brim and you won,t have to worry about a gauge lol.
