Any ideas on the best way to remove this, as ive tried and it doesnt seem to want to come loose and i dont seem to be able to lock it in place very well to undo the bolt. Just wanted to make sure also that it loosens in the antoclockwise direction?

Take the rocker cover off and there are flats on the cam itself inbetween two of the lobes, for you to put a spanner on(i think a 22mm spanner) not 100% sure on 22mm tho.

You then hold the spanner tight, which holds the cam still whilst you undo the cam pulley bolt.
Yes Anti-clockwise direction.

Another way if you have the cambelt still on is put the car in 4th gear, handbrake full on, and then undo it.
It will move slightly until the slack is taken up in the transmission.

I undid mine that way /\

get a foot long bar on a 6 sided socket and give it a sharp tap with a hammer.

when i undid mine i used a lock on the bottom pully, undid the tensioner and then undid the cam bolt which has a different marking to most others as noted in the haynes manual in the revised section. (it was a '92 1.2i engine) also all torque settings are listed even though they dnt need to be 100% adhered to.
