Quite a few people run theres without a cover on.
As for the chances, no one can say.
It might be fine for years, then again a brick could fling up off the wheel get under the belt and snap the belt the first time you pull off, lol.

cheers mate, engine wuz missing so i took head off and the last head bolt snapped off! so i had to drill the head of it off, took like 2 hours, did that, got mad and kinda broke the cambelt back plate, and to top it off, no bent valve as i thought, the head had melted. So no cover it is then.

Thanks Rob.

pmsl if a brick flew up into the engine bay i think a cam belt cover will be the least of your worries.

personally i think its fine to leave it off, jsut dont go head first into a gravel pit and stop the engine in a hurry

Hrmm :?

Well, with the cover off something can get stuck between the belt and sprockets.
With the cover on it cant.

When i say brick, im meaning a pebble, not a house brick.

well naturally the camcover was put there for a reason, although when i changed my cambelt i couldn't find the bolt anywhere so it kept rubbing, so i took it off and it was fine :)
