Try courtenay, they do a conversion but it's not cheap. You'll need low compression pistons aswell, not just standard new ones.

Wonder if a Starlet engine would fit in the Nova bay... 8)

theres only 1 way 2 find out! if i had the tym n money i wud try the starlet thing. wud b good if it fits!
well for a start id go for the 1.6 head as it will give you bigger valves and a lower CR for "free", then just fit new pistons and rings etc to make sure its all hunky dory.
since you have the 1.6 mpi head you can fit the mpi inlet plenum which is perfect for slapping a turbo outlet onto.. Just get a 1.6 turbo exhaust manifold (some companies make them in the uk, or you can make your own, or get one from matheaus on migweb).
all you need then is to get the pipe work and I/C sorted and fit a mappable ecu capable of running it, oh and a smallish turbo...
manifold/turbo/ecu/other fabrication will probably all cost about ?23K depending on how much of it you sort yourself...

i really dont think it will cost 23k!!!!!!! would it :)
if you are using the 1.6mpi inlet then use the mpi management and fit bigger injectors and you should get enough fuel that way. then you just gotta set the boost so that its running safe with that much fuel and leave it dont be a boost junky
i really dont think it will cost 23k!!!!!!! would it :)
missed the - out :P
burgos way seems cunning too..... could even use a rising rate FPR to help with fuelling too, but you WILL need a wideband lambda sensor in the exhaust to see that your not runnign too lean etc.

A cheap starlet engine usually means there's something wrong with it if its a Turbo, IIRC they're very much sought after by the N/A Starlet owners... Although being Toyota they're pretty hard to break lol
Still, size wise it should fit... you'd obviously have to make up some one off mounts though which could prove a headache. And the 4E-FTE puts out about 130-135bhp (probably only on high octane fuel though as IIRC all the turbos are jap imports) which isn't to be sniffed at!
