View Full Version : Driveshaft
Guys,
I am about to remove and re-fit a driveshaft to a 1.4sr.
I assume this is straightforward, is there anything I need to watch out for?
Cheers

You will need a really sturdy/decent pry bar to get the shaft out of the box.
They can be so stubborn at times.
i've never had a problem getting them out, just make sure the shaft is straight then you pull it out
stick a tub under the shaft to collect the g/box oil

shorter ones tend to be harder to get out of the gearbox. theres a knck to it tho.
lever with a sturdy large flat screwdriver or bar. try n lift the drive shaft at the samne time to take the weight off the ring that holds it to the gearbox
Cheers guys.
I take it the new one just pushes back in?

Yeh mate the new one just pushes/forced back in!! You will know when it goes in properly!!
As riggy said watch for the gearbox oil

Guys,
The old shaft came out no problem, but the new one doesn't seem to be fitting just right.
It is in, but it looks like gearbox oil is slowly trickling out and I have tried re-fitting it three times, but cant get it to fit perfectly!!
Any Ideas?
Cheers
Colin
you need to really push it in hard
you will no when it goes in fully , give it a knock with a hammer to try force it in a bit more but i have never had to do this

try the oil seal in the gear box, if you werent careful u may have damaged it. if the drive has clicked into place and its still leaking thats the problem.
