hi all,

Its decision time, initially i was thinking of doing a 1.6 t40 conversion in to my 1.2, after thinking about it even more i would much rather go straight to fitting a standard c20xe, i know that its a common conversion now but just wot is involved with it all?

What parts am i going to need?

What engine bay mods do i need to do?

cheers and keep up the good work

tim

look in the FAQ section, there are a few 2.0 xe things there... plus trawl through the forum for it, its asked every other day or so lol

engine, brakes, mpi fuel tank, 22 spline gte/gsi/td drive shafts, mk2 1600 cav inner cv's, engine mount, or lower body work bracket, and use 8v astra mount

You can use the 1.2i tank but fit a MPI pump from a mk3 astra in place of the SPI pump you have.

cheers man

another quick question, mates puttin a 1600cav engin into a nova and he needs a carb tank or to modifi the 1.2i tank. would a tank form a 1.0 do the job for him?

what do you mean astra 8v mount is this the gear box rear mount or the front engine mount m8

The 1L tank has no return pipe.
So no thats not much use to him.

I would use a carb tank.

IIRC you could use the 1.2spi tank, if you can bypass the intank pump somehow.

front drivers side, you toy need to cut of the metal bracket on the nova's bodywork, and weld it back on about 1 1/2" down

The main reason for using an MPi tank is the fact they have a swirl pot. the SPi and carb tanks dont.
also alot of spi tanks have intrernal fuel pumps which means messing around uprating it. alot easier just to get a whole fuel system (tank, pump, lines) from a MPi car (Gte, Gsi, SRi)

as for the mounts/brakets, the best and easiest way is to get a set of custom ones. readily available for under ?50 from vavlers.com, ebay, chrisastleymotorsport.co.uk and andy16vturbo on MIGweb.

get the custom ones, u dont need to reweld any chassis mounts, no finding the right braket from an old astra. U just swap the engine braket, use the nova rubbers (or get uprated TAS/competion ones) and put the spacer on the novas rear gearbox mount.
