I need some help on how to start my j reg 1.4 luxe. The car is currently a rall car - standard engine 1.4 with twin 40 dollorto's. Now the carbs wil need rejetting as they have come off a 1.6. The carbs were set up by the mot peeps to pass it through on emissions etc and i know i need to put this on a rolling road to sort them out. How much does rejetting cost?
But my main problem is that it take ages to turn over the engine. I usually pump the accelerator twice and crank it, however ive had a newish battery in it for about 6 months and each time i crank it the battery crank over gets weaker and weaker until it doesnt at all. Ive put new plugs on it and dizzy. I have to jump start the battery now to get it fired up. Is there any thing i can do to get the car firing up quicker?

the car could be over charging, causing the cells to burn out. take the caps off the top of the battery (where the acid goes in) and check if their black.....if they are u need a new battery.
