can you set the choke to high, on the sr carb

i got a 1.4 sr with manual choke, last week as it was cold i made the choke tighter so that it would idle at higher speed meaning i could drive away quicker, anyone change there setting, i think maybe i done it to high and when i take the choke off its still maybe on slightly, as i drove to work fine for 20mins, with my standard filter, then it didnt feel right started to jump very lightly, then just completely cut out, didnt idle,. i dunno if i should have left the choke on maybe or that its on slightly when it shouldnt be

The choke should be turned fully off ASAP when the engine will run without it.
You shouldn't be driving everywhere with the choke on.

i better unset it again, think thats what made the car cut out today!

worked well when it was cold because i only did 10min journy which needed the choke out,
