Immidiate plans are to finish the engine off with a Manifold/exhaust and new head. Nice aluminium catch tank, header tank and some form of washer bottle. tidy up the wiring e.t.c new alternator , clean and chrome some bits on the carbs, some kind of new rocker-cover.

Outside i still need to fit my GSi rear spoiler, then Coilovers and some 16" Mo's, or Speedlines i thnk. have got a Standard grill waiting to be sprayed as well.

it'l be left like this for a while, and some time next year i hope to strip the whole thing and rebuild the shell , new panels e.t.c where needed. And hopefully buy an RX7 2.6 TT

well i have no FPR and the carbs aren't jetted for a 1.6 + no RR.

So your guess is as good as mine. it's definelty faster than a standard gsi. Maybe 115 bhp ? 120bhp ?

It's good to drive, it's got a mild cam in it (kent NVO'R 26? Deg) so it pulls well pretty much throughout the rev range. Definetly alot quicker than my previous 1.2 :-D

at least the trees go well with the colour :P

Looks like a good little build bud, nice and clean! Thought of putting a bit of graphite grey paint on your bumpers? then do the wheels the same? just looks to me as the grey plastic might be fading an ickle..

Been negotiating some sums, and looking at finances and i've got some new plans.

Coilovers, 16x6.5 ET 49 Comp Mo's (600 odd for the wheels alone though) or Speedline Alesio 2's. Standard grill, GSi spoiler finally put on.

Engine wise. Getting a fully rebuilt bottom end by RSM, New shells, bearings, Lightened and balanced / polished crank and LB'd Flywheel. Maybe a rebore with pistons to suit (depending on price). if this goes ahead i'd be looking to get a big Valve head done by Steven gault and run it on solid lifters e.t.c Kent ASt17

Whilst going on i'm going to try get the front panel and battery tray done, the bay seam welding, all the engine chemically dipped and painted. new alternator e.t.c some nice additions like catch tank e.t.c

basically all the engine bay stripped welded and repainted.

So watch this space as if money goes to plan i'l be getting it done whilst i'm away at uni. I.e between now and april :-)

I suppose if i'm going to do it, i may as well get it all done properly

just out of interest. for people who have had this sort of work done before.

i've been qouted ?500 to have the whole bottom end rebuilt, excluding the cost of new parts when/if required. that price includes the machining work which is done elsewhere. engine out, engine in job. everything cleaned and painted freshly. it'l be built to a spec he does his formulae fords e.t.c track cars to so it'l be fairl bullet proof.

Does this sound a good price ?

Snowface

theyre' fairly bullet proof anyway but if its done a few miles then its a good idea.

?500 doesn't sound too bad if thats parts and labour. What exactly is he going to do?

Nick

It'l be a full rebuild of the whole engine, but i'l have a head done elsewhere so as far as the bottom end goes it'l be

New Shells and bearings, ARP rod bolts, Crank lightened and balanced, flywheel lightened and balanced. new seals rings e.t.c basically a full rebuild. he showed me an RS turbo lump that's undergoing the same work, shells had worn by a few thou down to a copper layer, bearing had got hot and something nasty happened to it.- Due to the engine having a few miles on it.

it'd had alot of top-end work done, so i guess it makes alot of sense.
