Cutting in bonnet vents

Whats the best way to cut in vents without a join being noticable on a regular pair of vents such as the Fiesta Turbo? As far as I can see the best way would be to cut them in from underneath and smooth em in. If they were just stuck on it'd look a bit false and crap and even if they were stuck on and the edges smoothed, you'd still be able to see that they were plonked on top just the edges smoother!

Any views on anything said there appreciated!

get the bonnet to macth the vents and cut the suroundind metal so the vents fit as they would in the proper bonnet?
