View Full Version : Coilover fitting
Going to purchase some Coilovers. I know there are kinda two types available. The cheap FK kits come with some wierd rear assembly that utilises the original spring position on the beam with some adjuster plate ?
anyways, i'm sure i've seen pictures of people having to take a mallet to their inner arches on the rear to accomodate proper coilovers.
Or am i just remembering things ?

thats only if you rears are proper coilovers, im not sure what yours look like, but its because the spring an shocker is wider than the standard shocker and hence will catch the inner arch. If your not sure just twat it with a hammer anyway.
CP actually cut his inner arches to mod them, but found out tht a mere hammering was needed as the springs caugh when the car was in the air, but once lowered to the floor and load applied they springs missed the arch post hammer lol.
I havn't actually bought a set yet. I don't really want to be hammering my inner arches :-)
The cheaper sets without the proper coilover rears, how adjustable are they ?
i gave mine a gentle persuader before fitting mine, only to find when i fitted them i had far to much room spare and could of prob got away with nowt lmao. But then the beam on mine is pretty spot on
nick mine only needed a small hammering to fit my rear coilovers
ok cool - but how adjustable are the kits with the sring and dampener in the normal position ?
or are they completly un-adjustable ?
There's a pic of mine with the car sat on the floor at its current height to show how much room is available. Plenty of room to adjust stuff once the wheel is off which is a good thing lol
