I've owned my little Nova for a little over a year now. It was/is my first car and is still going strong (after two headgasket replacements) :D I bought it as a standard 1.2 Merit and drove it standard for a year because of insurance problems.

When I bought it in 2004 (dodgy camera, it's Miami Blue (turquoise)):

Insurance renewal this year practically halved itself in price so I could finally do what I'd been waiting to do all year (better camera, its real colour):

Nothing out of the ordinary I know, but it's all my own work on my first car and I'm proud of it. :P Looking forward to another year of driving in 2006.

Yep my insurance company wanted to charge ?100 for adding alloys and wouldn't insure me for anything else (suspension etc) so I thought sod it, finish the years cover, get some NCB and do it legit.

Yeah I know West Bridgeford, I live down in Beeston.

looking well... how mine use to exactly look!!! a month after I bought her... same rims, and yes the rims catch, well they did with me anyways.. if ur down 60mm, the right arch rubs slightly, when going over a bump or people is sitting in the back..
was going to keep them rims on for winter, but they where rough, so sold them, lovely looking rims to be honest,

astra ls rims

I've lowered it 40mm and there's no scrubbage or catching anywhere (195/50 tyres). It looks like it would go -60mm without catching but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the positive replies, I'm pretty happy with it and don't plan on ruining it with stick-on plastic items. :P

No immediate or definite plans to be honest. Engine is staying standard that's for sure though. I'm going to enjoy it as it is for a few months until the nasty weather is over then see about GSi bumpers/splitter, exhaust etc... I'll keep you updated :P

Crickey mate - thought you,d nicked my motor - lol . Theres one thing I really regret on changing the look of my Nova - not taking pics ( before and after ) Seeing yours has certainly brought back memories of how mine used to look . Our cars are very similar - cept mines dropped 30mm on Fox Evos and has a Gsi spoiler fitted. All the bump strips are also gone ( hell of a job ) and the red strip in the bumpers removed . The door handles ,boot trim and bumpers have been coated with loads of bumper black , so are now nice and dark. The miami paint colour , really stands out , so treat it to regular waxes ( auto glymn is brilliant ) and seal it with top coat shine ( again auto glymn ) before lightly buffing it to a mirror finish.

Nice car.

Ejoy youre car and go steady - happy new year !!

Is it the name "Andy" (no offence Woody) that makes people to do stupid things?

but out of about 50modded cars in a car park i bet you 45 wouldnt have declared any mods
Quite. And we all know the kind of miscreants that frequent car parks.

If 45 out of 50 chavs jumped off a cliff, would you follow them?
