i have a 1.4 sr.
me and the misses just had a barney so i give the car some shit and over reved it as i pulled off when i got around the corner it started to rev up2 4000 rpm so i have removed the air box and there is a little black plastic thing like a lung thing i think its something to do with the choke well its snaped when you pull it, it moves something like a rod or something would this cause it to rev up 2 4000rpm on its own, the choke has been funny and getting stuck on then not working but we all no there shit and dont work any way.

or could it of jumped a tooth on the cambelt.

dose any one no if the 1.3 & 1.4 have the same carb

a jumped tooth wouldn't do it, will probs be the choke, not sure about a lung thing, you sure its ment to be in there? or is it something i've never seen with my crappy manual choke engine  if its not the lung thingy  try cleaning your choke if you can :D

as far as i know, the choke is always on and it gets turned off as the engine heats up, abit like a clutch, its always on and you press the pedal to take it off, it just sounds like the chokes stuck open

you can get a manual choke i think might just do that but i think i need to change that thing on the back of the carb what ever i do.

I'm not sure, but as you've got the air filter off your car, can you check the manifold and tell me if its got 3 pins or 2 pins to hold the carb on?

i thought 1.3 carb was different sure its pierburg 1B an 1 .4 is 2 b or something even if it looks same jets will b different its only a metal rod (the linkage ) would b best 2 take off 2 part of carb n av a look but mark were the throttle spring goes over the plastic with tipex so easy 2 put it back

1.3 had the same carb from 1985 on.
Before 1985 it had a pierburg 1b1 iirc.

So as long as its off a 1985 on car, its the same.

yes but as has alrady been said above remember the fanimold is different as the 1.3 one has the bigger round ports not the shite square ones

from the sounds of things the auto choke is stuck on (which is common as the chokes are crappy)

p.s. merry xmas..... and arguments with girlfriends are never solved ragging the shit out of your own car or anyone elses....... doesnt stop you doing it at the time tho

Is true 8)

so the placement of the long bolts to put the carb on is exactly the same on the fanimold

ok it was a pierburg iv put a webber on it to day. now it starts ok but when u tap the pedal it revs up 2 3000 rpm but when you put your ffoot under the pedal and pull it up it stops it. nm going to try grease the pedal and cable.
is there any thing that can be doing this as it dont feel like its getting stuck
