Does anyone know if you can rebuild the F13CR gearbox cluster into a 4 speed housing unit ie get rid of 5th gear and all its bits so you only have 4 gears?

suppose you could get a hollow bar and put that in place of the fifth gear, but i wouldn't advise it because the last gear will be shorter ratio than the 4 speed box, it'll be like gear 3 1/2 :lol:

I dont need to use 5th gear only 1st and 2nd. and because you cant get a straight 4sp CR cluster. Also I havent had a good look at the 5 sp end of the box so I dont know if part of the 5th gear is being driven all the time or not, if so then to reduce any losses to a minimum.

you can get quaife 4spd clusters....

have you got a std 4spd cluster there? if so i could come over and have a look see to work out the differences with you... i only live in ware.

Use a 4sp F10 - pretty sure thats whats commonly used.

years back I knew a bloke who used to prep a rally nova 1.3, & he converted a 4 speed into a 5 speed, so I would imagine the reverse is possible, using a 4speed box from a base model nova or astra. What are you using it for? autotesting? what diff are you using?

I dont see y u need to attempt to change an f13 - just swap it for a 4 speed. - there 10 a penny.

Hi Stuart, thanks for the offer but I dont have a 4 speed box to check at the moment. Further up the thread someone mentioned that they are ten a penny, anyone know where i can pick a couple od 4sp F10 boxes cheap?
