wiring up a power cap

how do i do it do i just put it in series with the live wire and earth it??

also will it need charged b4 i put it in ????if so how will i charge it???

Parallel.
Battery (+) to cap (+)
cap (+) to amp (+)
amp (-) to capacitor (-)
cap (-) to battery/chasis (-)

cap should be as close to amp as pos.
