why did you remove the engine in the 1st place, i thaught you had hardly driven it in the white shell, :?:

nova---chris
21-12-05, 06:10 PM
Ok went to a track day with it rushed but ready. (just wanted to make the day) Not like some who give excuses. Just got it ready to go and of we went.
On the day in the afternoon session i managed to kill the pressure plate well and truely. And tbh the engine was in need of the bottom end rebuilding due to on going problems with accralite pistons.

Anyhow decided to pull the engine at this point. And really debated selling. But due to it having a decent spec and money spent i thought keep it for another 12 months . And was stupid enough to go and buy aload of new parts. DOnt ya just hate modified cars. lol ! just when u think u wont spend anymore!!!!!!!

One reconned head later and new bottom end later here we are!

Anyhow thats its current state . going to stick engine in over xmas period and me man is waiting to spray it late january. so should be all go for around feb / march time.

few more tasters. still need a few bits to finish it. mainly a dash display with digital speedo pick up instead of of the box. And epas ecu modding altho im waiting on a few peeps before i pay anything stupid.A fuel pump and line' And the respray. besides that i have most things needed to finish it of.

22-12-05, 05:16 PM
How come your not using a pick up from the box? Are you still using the VX220 Stack? Have seen these running with a MG TF gearbox pick up and it was accurate, unsure of work involved in getting it to fit.

nova---chris
22-12-05, 05:21 PM
When using the gripper plate diff youc ant get a speedo ring round it.
The diff housing is to wide. this is what i found with me f16. Had to grind some bits out the diff housing to get it in without fouling

Not using the vx220 anymore. thinking of using a data logger dash instead if i can find one for the right money.

nathan.
22-12-05, 06:38 PM
Chris, How have you done your brake pipes? I can't quite tell from the pics. Are you just using 2 outlets from the master cyl?

nova---chris

yep!

Dar
22-12-05, 08:10 PM
Chris - This dash is digital and nice and cheap. Its also a datalogger and you can get a HUD for it as well which is funky.

http://www.veypor.co.uk/xcart/product.html

Other than that you can get this - which is far sexier but also alot dearer.

http://www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=103

Just some suggestions i've been looking for a digital dash/datalogger for a while myself.

Chris I was under the impression that those e pas bolted straight in. I was wrong then??? Or is it because your doing a corsa dash?

Since when has anything been a straight fit in a nova! lol You will need to add some alloy spacer blocks or something like to lower the bit nearest the steering wheel then you need to fabricate a new lower mount.

Mark Beeson
05-01-06, 11:37 AM
Trust you Rick! Ive just not heard about how the conversion was done. I thought id gone the long way round with my corsa/saxo steering.

MARTIN KELSON

I got the e-pas on mine Mark.
Think its alot easier to do than the way you went.
If i did it it cant be that hard!!
Just weld new bracket to column, spacer plate to lower steering wheel end mounts and thats about all there is to it. Only downer is you need to mod ecu to get rid of speed sensitive part which Hockly did but aint cheap.

You doing anything to yours Mark over winter?

tbh hes a fairly good welder. arc or mig. Biggest project being welding up new left handside chasis leg on a supra. lol! good project! yet to be finished that one. but hoping this year to get it all in 1 peice. anyhow heres some pics of its current state yet again. becoming a bore yet lol.

Decided to start getting the thing together. fitted rad/hoses/ and debating what to do with the hole where the heater once sat. probably get some stainless and seal it down. also going with a s hiteron wiper motor linkage which is all in 1. just been looking to how im going to mount it. ill get pics of that shortly when im a bit closer with it

anyone know any tips for breathing new life into silicone hoeses? mine seem to have gone dull just a tad??? Also any idea to what throttle cable to run?
Nova one im presuming and just mod the end??? or can i use summat else with the under slung linkage on the throttles. i have the xe throttle bracket under there to. so any ideas?

Lmao no problem mark.
Dont talk about houses!!!!! Im just about to start my HGV training shortly as i had a change of jobs and career.Money will be very nice once im passed. And the first thing ont he agenda will be a house (shock horror).
Noooo i so dont want one !!!!!!! lol! But its got to happen some time i suppose. As longs it has a garage im not botherd !!!

As for clutch cable thats fine mate. its cleaned up ok. Throttle cable im going for a nova one but just butcher it abit. as for shows im not sure which im going to and which ill be ready for. Really want to track it this year money permitting. and perhaps a visit to germany possibly. Cars not anywhere as clean as yours mark. But as longs its strong and does what i want on track thats the main bit. With a extra nitrous shot to come should make it well entertaining lol. even if it blows up!!! lol.

The windows are polycarbonate. There from Airedale race components .
Cant remember how much the window kit was.
A few of the lads bought there own perspex and made there own. but due to wanting the sliders ect ect it was just less time and hassle to buy them to be honest.

Reason behind the corsa dash purely was to hide wiring and allow me to mount switch panel and some other little gadgets. And the corsa dash is perfect for that . The nova one is crap to be honest. Hence i got the corsa one at the right price so had it. :) Looks alot cleaner .
As for the badge looking chavvy. I rekon the whole car is! Hahahaha!
Anyhow work has started on the wiring. Lets see if i can get it right this time. would be nice if everything worked this time round!!!!
Got a oil cooler coming also but missing the standard xe sandwich plate. but hope to have one of those coming shortly also . can get that piped up then. All good fun in the life of brian!!!!

Ok its been a while since my last update but ive got quite a bit done .
Sourced a radiator fan after much debating. Ive gone with a RST front mounted single fan. Also piped in the oil cooler which proved awkward as i have a front mounted alternator so the oil pipes have had to be put through the front panel . To much hassle to relocate the cooler tbh.
Dta Loom is all wired in the engine bay. Just needs the live feed adding inside the car now and its sorted.Gonna start testing electrics shortly and finally then change me fuse box over to a more slim line one. Just not had time yet to do it. anyhow heres a few more pics.

Ok time for a update.
Got round to finishing of the fuel lines today. Got a 2wd cossie regulator in the end after much debate. Just had to manafacture a bracket for it.
Then ran the lines through the car as you will see from the pictures.
Settled for a vaux fuel filter as oppose to stupidly priced aftermarket stuff.
Installed the sytec fuel pump along with the braided hose. was going to use aero quip fittings but for the pressure i need its not worth the money again.
Mounted the front and rear bumpers ( now on bonnet pins) make life easier.
Altho aligning all the front panels was a misson. Still not perfecto but as close as its going ! lol!!! The front grill isnt painted as yet but deciding wether to keep it black or go back white! HMMm food for thought!
Sourced a shi teron AX wiper motor several months back and finally got round to fitting it. Just need to wire it up which wont be to difficult.
Anyhow heres some pictures.

Looks lovely and should perform just as well too!

I reckon the grille looks good in black gives it a more aggresive mk1 look.

Ok no pictures as yet to update with. But been having problems trying to get the thing running. After my mental block on timing finally dissapeared i went and bought a dial gauge and mag stand. Got the cams dialed in. Altho in the process scratched me pulleys(cry) But thanks to all the peeps i questioned on the timing!! finally worked out ok!

I then bolted it all back together quickly. and changed over dispak back to my old one. Then the time came. if it dont go this time then maybe bent valves somehow. But no it fired up instantly. And **** me it sounds nice! lol!

So it runs and idles sweet now. So now i need to fix back all the **** i took apart trying to get it going. !! shame i couldnt get any sound clips. :)
anyhow hoping it wont be long now before its ready to be run in. :)

speak soon peeps
