advise, i just went to look at some gsi fully retrimed in leather seats, only 2 problems with it is, driver side where ur ass is, the thread is cut open like 6inch long, is it a case of just takin it off and sewing it back, or is it more complicated, and passenger has a similar problem, what do you rekon, i got offered the seats and door cards and back seats, + roof part all for 150, perfect nick apart from them 2 problems, and for ?150 what do you reckon ?
I thought you were only looking to spend ?40?? And i highly doubt you'll be able to repair it yourself and to pay for a repair will be lots of moolah i would imagine.
Find out how much its going to cost you to have the seats sorted, I doubt many people on here are that handy with a needle so you'll have to pay a company to do it, so take some pics and see how much the seats etc are really going to cost you ie ?150 + repair cost.
Is the thread ripped or is it dodgy stitching, you don't want any other parts of the seeats falling apart if it was a shoddy job in the first place, if thats the case then you may as well just get the whole lot restitched at ???!

its where its stitched, he said sum1 had torn it with a key by accident then it just got bigger with sitting on it, but apart from that its all quality, anyone know any good companies, or ill just try yellow pages, cheers
try yellow pages
So he accidently did both seats with a key then!!?? You said it was a similar problem on the passenger side too. So they have both been done with a key?!?! Sounds like dodgy stitching to me, which would lead me to think they may fall apart elsewhere.
Its up to you, its one of those things where the offer is quite good, but it may cost you ??? in the long run, combined with ball ache if you keep having to remove the driver seat to get it fixed, leaving you without a driveable car. That is assuming you sell/bin your current interior.

Sounds like a good deal to me, as was saiod previously, leather wasnt a factory option for novas!
I doubt many people on here are that handy with a needle

If the stitching has come free and the original holes are still in tact (not torn) you can remove the covers (pretty faffy) and resew it using proper reinforced upholstery cotton.
If its the bolster on the lower part of the seat, you should be able to get access to it but if its stitched properly (like a tram line either side of the stitching, then for a proper job get a pro to do it.
However, the original holes should act as a guide if diy'ing it.
