View Full Version : indicators and mot and feds.
Saw a nova in an old total vaux, didnt have any indicators (not that i could see anyway :|)
Would that pass an mot and will the feds use it as an excuse to pull me over?
Indicators on the front, side, rear? All of the above? lol
You need indicators, although its possible to put them elsewhere. IIRC Cheeze has moved the indicators from by his headlights.
Side repeaters are a different matter..

basically if you take the side indicators off then to be safe stick some led's on ya wing mirrors, although if your car is pre 85-6 or a mk2 (with origional front indicators) then you should get away with it.
for the front indicators if you take the origionals out then your gonna have to replace them with anything more brighter than a motorbike indicator. i got a set of motorbike indicators from tweeks for about a tenner. you'll have problems with relays etc as they don't draw enough current which means indicators flash quicker.
You can get replacement relays for LEDs, or resistors. I've got them on my faff as the front and side indicators are LED bulbs.
Oh aye, i meant to say side repeaters lol
So its ok without side repeaters?

i also want to know this.. mine's a mk2.. would i need a new relay for my indicators? :?: :?:
Ditching the side repeaters shouldn't be enough to warrant the fast flash rate, but worth checking first. Just take the bulb out and try it lol
As for Mk2, you should be ok with no repeaters. If you stand 1 meter from the car, parallel to the rear bumper and you can see the front indicator light up thats ok for the MOT
