What error do you get? Could be a problem with windows rather than the drivers/hardware itself...

i did know how to solve this problem... as i had exactly the same thing...

You have to go delete and recreate a registry key using Reg-edit. I'l rack my brains and try remember the solution for you

get some more info on the error, there should be a code with it, google the code and it'l come up with the answer.

I can't be bothered to find it - got work to do. Assuming your using XP i think XP assigns it's owm drivers to CD/CDR/DVD drives IIRC< so it's a slight corruption in windows.

Sorry if i'm talking rubbish - but im sure this was the same problem i had a while ago

no nick your not talking rubbish ive had this problem for atleast 6months. This is the error code im getting any ideas of how 2 fix it as its anoying that i cant use either of my disk drives

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

At least it picks up the fact you have the hardware there, my dvdrom drive has never worked since I put this pc together, but I'm too lazy to fix it

So do you still get that error if you download a driver from the manufacturer?
