how do i get rid of the vinyl between the door and rear quarter panel windows?

heat gun and a lot of patience!!! Then use a polishing mop to buff it up afterwards

Yeah heat it up good and as long as its hot enough you can get a corner with your fingers (gloves are a good idea) and peel it off in huge strips... go slow and as you peel down the side of the car heat so as to get the biggest pieces off possible... takes AGES to do though... usually loads of glue stuff remains but if you do it properly and and a high enough temperature then you can pull vinyl and glue off together... and shiny paint is underneath!! just dont use a scraper cos it will take the real car paint work off...
