I've never driven either, but i have heard turbo diesel is way better than non turbo.

You can get a 1.7TD out of a cav/astra and put that in a nova.
They go pretty well.

nova td is a cracker, we had one about 12 years ago, very easy to up the boost on and make them go better than a gte

I had a nova TD, stay clear of the non turbo cant do much with it.

With the TD all you need is a bleed valve and a few hours to set it up. I de-restricted the fuel pump, turned up the fuel, revs and boost. Was running 1 bar to the standard 0.6, put a filter directly onto the turbo. Never had it RR but was told it should be in the 80's.

Would beat all SR's i ever raced, torque steer was abit dodgy though. Upgrade the brakes aswell, I would lock up all the time and get really bad brake fade.

Praise the lord!!! TDs are mental and even have uprated top mounts, and since they're Diesel they're cheap to run and insure. TD is the way froward!!!

Im new here to Novaload. Hi everyone!!

Gotta agree that the Nova TD has amazing performance for a supermini, I found one for my girlfriend as her first car, she loved it and I more so that I bought it from her when her dad bought a Saxo for her.

If anyones interested I've got a bigger site on Cardomain with my Astra TD, Nova TD and my other Novas.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/585696

If anyone could help me in a step by step guide to getting more power out of my Isuzu lump in my Nova I would be very greatful.

In the future I want to chuck in a 1.7TD from an astra, but in the mean time does anyone know if the 1.7 turbo is bigger than the 1.5 & will it fit?

Cheers!!

Try the migweb.co.uk forum, lots of stuff on there bout the 1.5 and 1.7 TD tuning.

Will it go straight in or??

Putting it in a Nova isn't easy:
RH-side engine mount is different, welding a new mount could be done but there isn't much space.
the turbo is bigger, therefore the alternator(and support) has to be lowered and modified (with a grinder)
The 1.7TD's have an intercooler, try fitting that in a nova with a diesel radiator in the way.
You'll probably have to put the 1.5 flywheel and starter on the 1.7 and grind a bit off(the block) to fit the gearlinkage.

TD's are a lot of fun...can't wait to put my engine back together and swap it (last td broke down... )
Pics of mine are here (http://home.quicknet.nl/qn/prive/cw.jelsma/) (under Corsa 2 and Turbo) pretty boring 1.5D now...will be a whistler in 2k6 again

CorsaCruiser know his stuff, his site proves it, I liked the clean euro style look.

Do you or anyone else know what front strut brace is the best to go for? I dont mean make, as I cant find a listing for TDs.

Would it be the bent looking 1.3 one or the straight looking GTE/GSi one (which i think wud be best) to go for? or does it not matter?

Good question, i think the filter support is in the way:

i've got an OMP straight one, still has to be respayed...fits due to slight modifications

Cool, i did think the fuel filter would get in the way.
Cheers for that, strut brace shopping I think for this weekend while the cambelt is getting done. :D

That is one Mint TD there mate. I gave one away not that long ago, and although it was rotten with Rust, i'm regretting it now. There is a lot to do if you're gonna stick a TD in a Petrol Nova, The slam panel, as mentioned before, the engine mount and then Pluming in your tank and fuel lines etc. But if you're gonna do it, buy a TD and strip and rebuild the two cars side by side, personally, i'd just buy a TD but they are hard to Find.
