finally got the16' speedlines on the car last night and got the car on the ground but i am not happy with how low it is at the back. the car is stripped with just a roll cage and lowered 60 at the back.

i am looking for the back to go down 80 or 100mm

can anyone help??

i have seen novas lower than this before

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FK-Highsport-Coilovers-Suspension-Kit-Corsa-Nova_W0QQitemZ8017028088QQcategoryZ40192QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

i was looking at them but i phone the people up and the coilovers only go 40 to 60 at the back.

is there any coilovers for a nova that go lower than that??

avo coilovers are mint for lowering the rear lol, i made the mistake of having them on their lowest setting when i first fitted them and my back bumper was 2 inch off the ground.

As far as I know that FK kit is not a coilover rear set-up, but a shock/spring combo.

Do a searh for coilsprings they can create a custom spring to suit you. Failing that, I have some stupidly low springs for the back for sale. Be warned though, your shocks will get knackered.

My Avo coilovers went down lower than the inner arch would allow the wheel to go!!! :o The early Avo's didn't used to go so low (somehwere around 80mm) But the later ones were ment to be 120mm and I can believe it!!!

As Mentioned Coilsprings will get the rear down. I sent my 30mm Calibra rear springs away and asked them to take another 40mm off the ride height, they came back 4 days later and cost ?45. Bargain!

Mine stripped out at back.
Look at sig to see how low. I had -100mm springs made by coilsprings uk.
The 100mm was too low so had to make spacers to lift back up a bit so i would say -80 to -85mm would be about right.
Cost about 80quid if i remember right. Thay have made loads for Novas so whatever you want they can do.

Can promise you -100mm on 16" wheels will be too low.
Would say -80mm would be enough. Just measure where car is sitting now and how much lower you want it to go then get them made.

coilsprings89. They are the kiddies.

If you have r/discs you could raise the stub axles on the beam. that way you keep spring travel, & damper damage kept to a minimum.

How did you make spacers up Martin as I have the same problem as you, got some 100mm springs with my Allesios on and it rubs constantly with a passenger in, need to get it about 10mm higher really? any pics?

Hi lee,
Secret mate!!
Under the spring as standard there are some rubber rings/bushes, took them to a machine shop we use at work and got them coppied out of steel only with a 15mm sidewall.
Booked it to the company to so top result!!

Forgot i do have rear discs and think the bracket was lowered so maybe
-90 to -100mm might be right for ya, just measure, best be to low as can always raise like i did, if there not low enough nowt you can do about it other than more springs made.

Sounds like a good plan. Got rear disks also and mine might be more than 100mm then as there is about 2" of the Speedlines in the arch as well as the tyres and thats fully stripped out.

I also had this problem, I had mine lowered with 60mm springs with 16s but the back was a lot higher than the front! I wasn?t happy so I had some 70mm springs made up at coilsprings put them in it looked good the wheel just disappeared under the arch, but it started to bottom out when I had anyone in the back.
As you said the car is stripped so it should be ok, if I was you I would go for some rear coilovers that way you can have it as low as you like!

I use to have mine on spax coilovers RSX kit you get coilover on front and shox spring rear, the front was very low,and the rear springs wer 60mm on striped rear.

60mm striped rear..

http://x12.putfile.com/12/33603370750.jpg (http://www.putfile.com)

Then i bought some AVO coilovers, full coilover setup,so now the rear can be lowerd to about 100mm i think, though i only have it set to about 80mm,main reason i wouldnt go much lower then thast is the fact you loose your center of gravity on the car,you will find there is less margin before the rear will brake away under heavy cornering.

80mm on AVO's

Ross, I mentioned the stupidly low springs that I have for sale earlier, here is a picture of the car with those rear springs:

You can just about make out where the wheel finishes in comparison to the rear arch.

80mm isnt all that good. had my stripped gte down 75-80mm and the std shock was more or less bottomed out! id go no lower than 70mm to give your self abit of travel, and make sure you retain the springs well as at this length they fall out very easyly

zip tie the bastards in :D

i lowered it 110mm on chopped springs so im driving a death trap but as the boy said zip tie them in but differance is im not joking drill four holes where the bottom of the spring sits a get phat zip ties and feed it through the holes and the bottom coil of the spring this makes sure it doesnt fall out when u hit a pot hole make sure u do it to a standered spring as these are stiffer and ur shocker doesnt bottom out

lmfao if you mean 110mm on the rear? on std shock set up! its just not possible
i would say the shock has would be bottomed out 100%@ 85-90mm! so if yours was lowered a true 110mm then the car would be sat on the bump stop/ end of shock with the spring still rattling around on the beam
zip ties are ok, but wire is better.

dan16v
07-12-05, 11:36 AM
and if you mean the front then the drive shaft must be sat at about 45degrees and i take it you cant turn corners?

07-12-05, 03:38 PM
no joke cut the sping!
well if it is bottomed out i havent noticed it still bounces about but ever so slightly.ive nowered it 80mm at the front and it sits a few mill over the tyre this is only possible because i run 14's if u think thats bad u should c my birds corsa for being low to the ground

cable ties and wire are the uninaginative pussy's way out to hold springs in lol.

Try travel limiters ;) they are the way forwards. The idea came to me in a flash of inspiration while thinking "hmm the spring ont reseat right once dislocated and cable tied in........ ahhhhh yes limit the fecking travel in the first place"
