Threw my keys in a few weeks back , after being almost forced into another contract meaning more hours at weekends for single time pay . There is only so much a person can take - I,d had enough of 60 -70hr weeks for 14k a year so feck it - gotta be honest mind ....what with the silly season nearly upon us ( and mortgage ) I,m begining to panick...
Hopefully New year - new job ..!!

Hendrix, I'm doing a PhD at Southampton Uni. So its the standard ?12,000 tax free, which is about ?15k inc. tax. I also get a bursary of another ?2,5k tax free, so in all its ?14.5k tax free which equates to ?18-?19k per annum.

If you work in industry you'll see much better wages!

Just out of curiosity, what sort of physics are you interested in doing?

Do a PhD !!! Its good if you want to spend the next 3 years or so controlling your own work, while researching into something thats not been looked at before, and then pubilsh your findings as you go along!

dont blame you mate.... 14K a year dont go far really. i remember the days when i'd have money paid in on Thursday and by friday night all i had was a full tank of petorl to get to work with for the whole week.
