Dash board problems

Hey got a 1.2 mk 2 nova, each time i go over a bump the battery light comes on and my fuel guage goes right down to empty even running a full tank,only way to get it back to normal is to smack it right on the top so if anyone knows why or has any advice please tell as M.O.T is coming up and if the mechanics see that up goes the price an extra ?60 "faulty wiring, didnt have the parts, had to order them" so advice would be rather appreciated. :D

Have you a haynes manual ? If so I,d read the section on removing the dials , clean the electrical contacts with alcohol and replace . Worth a try at least.......

Yeah i was thinking bout taking it apart, so could be fun!! i got the "bible" haynes manual so should be a piece of cake.....says he!! lol, the thing with the guage is its annoying when it shoots down also the temperature guage drops to,
