hi ppl. my sr run's off a pierburg carb which i think is the problem. it runs ok for a few hundred miles, sometimes not even that then startrs to run lumpy as hell, as if its missing like mad. whenever i stop and check the plugs they are either covered in black soot or soaking in petrol. i'v tried new leads, new distributer, different air filter, fuel additives(carb cleaner treatment) and new plugs. i've set the distributer timing perfectly with the stobe light at work and adjusted the idileing backwards and forwards but still no improvement. it done it again today and wont even drive now. it starts but wont tick over, i have to keep reving it to keep it alive. i removed the air filter and when i looked down the chamber with the orange pipe on top of it and pulled the throttle linkage a could see fuel spraying in which i havn't noticed before. can any1 help atall as i am coming to my witts end??????? thanks alot.

Probably the autochoke playing up.
Choke sticking on, giving over rich fuel mixture=sooty spark plugs.
