Hi chums,

continuing with my attempt to buy something non nova orientated and gadgety looking for info on digital slr's (or slt lookalikes)

Been looking at Fuji's S7000, S5500 as well as Canon E300 digital rebel.

The canon is far superior but does anyone own any of the fuji's or recommend any digital cameras for under ?250-?300?

Need something that can handle good macro (close ups) as well as decent scenic shots. I know the s7000 has excelent low light (night) shots and macro shots.

i've got a s5000 and it was great for what i needed, the s7000 is superior and i would definately recommend it...

my s5000 is great for the scenic pictures and portraits, but not as good as i'd hoped for macro shots

hope this load of rubbish is even a slight bit of help, i know of some good forums that will show you what each can do if it's any help.

As said the Macro mode isn't brilliant on the Fuji's (in my experience it never has been on Fuji cameras). I'm planning to buy some macro lens adapters though...

Also IMO Fuji pictures tend to suffer from colour casts, as you can see from the last few pics.

i'd say shoot on the canon any day.

it's the smaller brother of the 20 i shoot on. really great cameras, easy and intuitive to use. loads of lenses as they take the EF film lenses as well as the dedicated digital lenses. plenty of accessories on the flash, rf tiggers and motion triggers, writes to the cards fast too. always hady for high speed shooting.
