4th gear

What speed do you get out of 4th gear on the limiter? On the track of course.

depends what engine, mines only a 1.2 but it manages about 80 at 5000RPM..ish, although it has 15" alloys on it

iv had 108mph in 4th, but that is the nova speedo so god know what i was actually doing. then i put it into 5th and got 115mph (down hill obviously) past a copper on a police ramp reading the paper. talk about crapping myself. luckaly my car was very quite back then!!!!

Mine hits limiter at 110mph,iv got an f13 box in it i think, corsa gsi one. does that sound right or is my speedo way out?

ill check mine, but from top of my head i cant see it doing over 110 and thats a 1.4sr.

i only have 4 gears ive heard it gives better acceleration but less top end is this true?

well i only got 100 in 4th tonite car felt like something wrong with it though, 100 in 4th 1.4 sr so dunno how ppl can say they get like 120 in 4 in a lower power car , my old 1.6 16valve only did 105 in 4th

orange_andy i have a 1.4 flair nova now not a 1.2 can get 1st- 35 2nd- 65 3rd- 97ish lol and 4th - 120 @ 6000rpm other gears revv to jst over 7

My 4speed 1.2 would do 1st-30
2nd-50
3rd-80-
4th- indicated 110, more like about 100.

on an F13 box you will get around 110mph on the limiter, but there is no point taking it there as it takes ages to get the last 10mph, might as well be in fifth. If it is a corsa gsi box you are using it should be an F15, I would imagine that they are the same gearing though.

Depends if its a Wide ratio or a Close ratio box, and mostly on the FD.

how much do the nova clocks show out?

lots, when I was over in germany in may with the XE in, i had a road angel which provides a near as dammit GPS calculated speed, and when my speedo was roading 120mph the road angel was reading 100mph, when the needle was at 0 (it went all the way round) on the limiter the road angel read 142mph.

I have a program that calculates the speed by tyre size, gearbox, engine speed etc.
It has F10,F13, F16,F20 etc on.

It seems quite accurate too.

on the clock how else can you tell how fast your going, if people are insinuating that nova clocks cant be 100% acc, then that means no car on the road could be acc, cant see that like

all vehicles have to have a speedo that overreads by no more than 10% upto about 80mph, then after that the manufacturers can do what they like......

im runnin 17s had my m8 behind me in a civic n his clocks were readin 120 aswell as mine, takes a lil while to get there mind lol

also i havnt found the limiter on my nova yet n dont think it has 1 as it will revv to 7500rpm(dont wanna go no more), revvs up so freely aswell. gotta love the nova for that

after 6500 is the best shift point i've found aswell, nicly in the powerband

7.5 grand, jesus what spec you got. my 1.4 flair hits the limmit at about 5950 (just before 6k).....so this makes me think what do standed nova engines rev up to.....1.0, 1.2, 1.4, sri gte you get the point,

well what have you done to the engine basically 100 in rd gear on a 1,.4 it must be an animal i had a new car 1.6 16valve n only did like 85 90 in 3rd

Standard limiter is around 6200rpm.

And 97mph in 3rd gear, is about 8300rpm LOL

im really not jokin it is an animal lol i bought it and it had 43,000 on the clock and everything totally standard! all of the exhaust system was blowing so i put on new manifold gasket, down pipe, peco bb2 centre pipes, and an old magnex s/s backbox from back in the day lol. then instead of a k&n i've drilled the air box at the back, alterd my iginition timing at work.
it sounds crisp and revvs so nicly, it just hasnt got a limiter, it stillwants to go after 7500rpm, dunno wat would blow 1st my ears or the engine haha
