This mite be a old question but Iam asking it
because I don't know the answer.
( WHAT OTHER GEARBOX'S FIT A 1300 BLOCK.)
It has a F10 at the mo . dose F13 , F16. etc , etc
Iam looking for better lift. The F10 I have has a 4.18
stamped on the end of the box ,this I think is the diff
final drive. dose anyone know where I can get a 4.29
final drive.

The 4.18 stamp does indeed refer to the final drive of the gearbox.

I take it you are after something with wider gearing? If so, then the final drive number is the key to this. An F13 should fit onto the 1300 block. Try and look for one with 3.74 stamped on the case along with WR (Wide Ratio). This will slow your acceleration, but will increase the top speed between gears.

FYI, the 4.18fd is usually highly sort after if you don't intend to use it, so it might be worth offering to sell it, unless you wish to keep it should you want a car with quicker acceleration.

Cheers Jim.
I was looking for better lift as I was told that you can get a 4.4, 4.3 box out of a old Mrk 1 or Mrk 2 astramaxs van. I not sure if the box is f13,f16 or not. that is why I wanted to know if they fitted the 1300 block.
I do a bit of racing and need all the lift I can get.

THANKS

ive got a 4.29 (which owuld be the 4.3) but ive never heard of a 4.4, only a 4.53 as std....

i assume when you say "lift" you really mean acceleration....

you may find you need a bigger clutch and flywheel as the F13 and F16 etc use larger diameter items.
