Could be the immobiliser, check that
make sure the ignition coil is connected, there should be a black and red? wire that go from 2 pins to the distributor, make sure the king lead is pushed on properly and working, take of your dizzy cap make sure its clean etc, mine had the same problem, i took the dizzy cap of and the contact from the king lead on the distributor rotor had snapped off so wouldn't spark any cylinder, have you done anything to the car? are the sparks defiantely not sparking? it might be mistimed sparking :?
Ok cheers,,, all its got is a bolt on filter as far as i no,, and am not sure about the sparking... it just seems to try then nothin happens,, what can i do if it is a mistimed spark?
am not sure thats whats confussing me.. the guy said "its got the 1.4 ecu onit" then when i open the bonnet it had a bolt on filter on it :?

depends whats been played with  if you've dismantled the distribution system you might have put the rotor on the wrong way, id suggest making sure it isn't sparking, take a spark plug out, connect it to a HT lead, and rest the spark on the engine body to create an earth, make sure you don't touch the metal because it'll hurt, and get someone to turn the engine over and see if it sparks, but DON'T get yourself electricuted :)
we need pics of the engine. and get the engine number.
okay cheers m8 i'll get back to you when i've bin 2 have a look,,, 1 of my mates said something about the coil pack?
we cant advise you if we dont know what engine etc it is... more to the point when you dont even know what the hell youve got.
yep i'll get some pics for you later
i've ssorted my problem out,,, am not buying it :)

i want ?200 for it
Just cheak that the car is getting fuel, then try as said before, the dizzy, ie rotor arm, then the coil and modual(seet alum Thing the coil sits on) making sure all are connected right. If its not sparking its got to be one of those.
Still no joy? ight, get a 1600 Carb and Inlet, coil and Distributar. Stick the lot on and try starting it then, If tis works then you're wiring or some component on the car that you removed must be faulty.

1.6 carbed astra engine would be the same, if not slower than the 1.4SRi one anyway.
yeh but the guy blew the sri 1 up
Try what i said and give us an update.
